The Line: Cleveland +8.5 -- Over/Under 210
The Cleveland Cavaliers play host to the Miami Heat at the Quicken Loans Arena on Friday night.
The Miami Heat have been in a bit of a slump lately as they’ve lost five of their last eight games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling to the Clippers in a 111-99 home loss on Wednesday. Hassan Whiteside led the team with 22 points and 16 rebounds, Josh Richardson added 17 points with five assists while Tyler Johnson chipped in with 15 points and five assists. As a team, the Heat shot 47 percent from the field and eight of 28 from the 3-point line but they just couldn’t keep up with Tobias Harris and the Clippers in the second half where they were outscored by 57-45. With the loss, Miami dropped to 22-24 overall and 11-13 at home.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been stuck to the bottom of the league standings with 17 losses in their last 18 games and they will be hoping to snap a five-game skid after getting blown out by the Celtics in a 123-103 road loss on Wednesday. Cedi Osman led the team with 25 points on eight of 11 shooting, Ante Zizic added 19 points while Collin Sexton chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 43 percent from the field and 13 of 30 from the 3-point line as they started well against the Celtics, but there was just no catching up after the Celtics outscored them by 38-20 in the second quarter. With the loss, Cleveland fell to 9-40 on the season and 4-22 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 road games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team below .400 and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a double-digit loss at home. The Cavaliers are 1-7 ATS in their last eight home games, 0-4 ATS int heir last four games against a team with a losing record and 0-4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings in Cleveland, the home team is 13-4 ATS in the last 17 meetings and the Heat are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings.
The Heat have been playing a little below their best lately but this looks like a good spot for them as they’ve already beaten the Cavaliers twice this season by a combined 49 points. The Heat are also 11-4 ATS in their last 15 road games and 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall, so I’m sticking with the Heat to snap out of their funk with a much-needed blowout win in this one.
