The Portland Trailblazers pay a visit to the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Quicken Loans Arena on Monday night.
The Portland Trailblazers have been in fine form with 10 wins in their last 14 games and they will be gunning for a fourth straight victory after blowing past the 76ers in a 130-115 road win on Saturday. Jusuf Nurkic led the way with 24 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, Damian Lillard added 17 points with eight assists while Enes Kanter chipped in with 16 points off the bench. As a team, the Trailblazers shot 49 percent from the field and a miserable five of 23 from the 3-point line, but this win was all about their offensive explosion in the third quarter where they outscored the 76ers by 41-26 to cruise to victory after a tightly contested first half. With the win, Portland improved to 36-23 overall and 12-15 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have their eyes looking towards the upcoming NBA draft but, they’ve quietly been playing some of their best basketball of the season and will be aiming for a third straight victory after sneaking past the Grizzlies in a 112-107 home win on Saturday. Kevin Love drained six 3-pointers to lead the team with 32 points and 12 rebounds in just 26 minutes of action, Collin Sexton added 20 points with five assists while Ante Zizic chipped in with 18 points on six of seven shooting. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 44 percent from the field and 16 of 42 from the 3-point line as they rallied in the fourth quarter for the narrow win after squandering an 18-point second quarter lead. With the win, Cleveland improved to 14-45 overall and 9-22 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Trailblazers are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team below .400, 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games following a win and 13-5 ATS in their last 18 games overall. The Cavaliers are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games, 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 4-11-1 ATS in their last 16 against the Western Conference.
Head to head, the over is 8-1 in the last nine meetings in Cleveland, the Trailblazers are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings overall but just 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Cleveland.
The Trailblazers have been building some momentum with 10 wins from their last 14 games and they will be high on confidence after knocking off the shorthanded 76ers on the road on Saturday, so it’s no surprise that they’re almost double-digit road favorites here. However, the Cavaliers have sprung to life with the return of Love to win three of their last four games, so maybe they’re not the same pushover team that we’ve seen all season. I think this game will be close till halftime, but with the Cavaliers having nothing to play for, I can’t see them hanging with the red-hot Trailblazers who are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings.
