The Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks duke it out at the American Airlines Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Los Angeles Lakers look to have fully recovered from their nine-game skid as they’re now aiming for a fourth straight win after taking down the severely shorthanded Spurs in a 93-81 win on Thursday. Brandon Ingram led the team with 26 points on 11 of 21 shooting, Lonzo Ball filled up the stat sheet with 18 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four steals while Larry Nance Jr finished with a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. As a team, the Lakers shot just 41 percent from the field and 13 of 38 from the three-point line but that was still good enough to take down the Spurs who were playing without three of their starters. With the win, Los Angeles improved to 14-27 overall and 9-14 at home where they’ve won three straight.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have won six of their past nine games and they will be gunning for a third straight victory after sneaking past the Hornets in a 115-111 road win on Wednesday. Harrison Barnes led the team with 25 points and 11 rebounds, Yogi Ferrell drained seven treys to finish with 22 points, Dirk Nowitzki scored 19 points while Dennis Smith Jr chipped in with 15 points and six assists. As a team, the Mavericks shot 47 percent from the field and 15 of 36 from the three-point line but when it came down to crunch time in the fourth quarter, the Mavericks turned to Barnes who scored 13 of his 25 points in the fourth to escape with the narrow win. With the win, Dallas improved to 15-28 overall and 6-14 on the road where they have won four straight.
Looking at the betting trends, the Lakers are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a win of more than 10 points and 1-4 ATS in their last five road games against a team with a losing home record. Meanwhile, the Mavericks are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games, 5-15 ATS in their last 20 games against a team with a losing record and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings, the Lakers are 1-6 ATS in the last seven meetings in Dallas and the Lakers are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
The Lakers were certainly going through their struggles but they've finally gotten healthy and look to have found a bit of a winning formula with a new lineup. Lonzo has really grown in confidence and Ingram is really proving that he is a rising star in this league but the Lakers will have to be at their best against this Mavericks team who are plyaing some of their best basketball of the season. The Lakers have covered in four of their last five road games but they've struggled against the Mavericks who have covered in each of the last four meetings. This should be a close one, but I'm sticking with the Mavericks to get hte job done at home.
