The Memphis Grizzlies pay a visit to the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center on Friday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been in a slump as they’ve lost seven of their last 10 games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting blown out by the Trailblazers in a 116-89 road loss on Wednesday. Chandler Parsons led the team in scoring with 16 points off the bench, Ivan Rabb added 13 points with 10 rebounds while Delon Wright and Justin Holiday each scored 11 points. As a team, the Grizzlies shot just 38 percent from the field and 11 of 33 from the 3-point line as they hung with the Trailblazers in the first half, before getting blown off the court in the second half where they were outscored by 54-30 as they just didn’t have the firepower to hang with the red-hot Trailblazers. With the loss, Memphis fell to 31-47 overall and 11-28 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have lost six of their last nine games and they will be looking to bounce back after having their two-game win streak snapped by the Timberwolves in a 110-108 home loss on Wednesday. Luka Doncic led the team with 27 points, 12 rebounds and six assists, Dwight Powell added 25 points on eight of nine shooting while Trey Burke chipped in with 12 points and four assists off the bench. As a team, the Mavericks shot 45 percent from the field and seven of 39 from the 3-point line as they rallied late in the game to get within one shot of stealing the game, but with 1.1 seconds left on the clock, Doncic shook his defender and chose to pass to Jalen Brunson who missed the game-winner at the buzzer. With the tough loss, Dallas fell to 31-47 overall and 23-16 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 16-35 ATS in their last 51 games following a loss of more than 10 points, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team below .400 and 8-18 ATS in their last 26 road games. The Mavericks are 4-1-2 ATS in their last seven games following a loss, 1-4-1 ATS in their last six home games and 1-8-2 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the under is 5-0-1 in the last six meetings, the Grizzlies are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and the Grizzlies are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Dallas.
The Mavericks have been in rough shape lately as they've lost six of their last nine, but the Grizzlies have been even worse as they've lost seven of their last 10. With both teams dealing with multiple injuries, we're going to see a lot of makeshift lineups, but the difference is that the Mavericks have home-court advantage and they have Doncic. The Grizzlies are just 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Dallas and I think that trend continues tonight as the Mavericks get the win and cover.
