The Line: Dallas -2.5 -- Over/Under 209
The Miami Heat and the Dallas Mavericks duke it out at the American Airlines Center on Wednesday night.
The Miami Heat have been in a bit of a slump as they’ve lost six of their last seven games and they will be hoping to snap a three-game skid after falling to the Nuggets in a 103-87 road loss on Monday. Justise Winslow led the team in scoring with 15 points, James Johnson added 14 points off the bench while Josh Richardson chipped in with 12 points and eight assists. As a team, the Heat shot just 41 percent from the field and nine of 33 from the 3-point line as they fought hard to hang around until the Nuggets started to pull away in the third quarter. Kelly Olynyk shot just four of 13 for his 11 points while Dwyane Wade finished with just eight points off the bench. With the loss, Miami fell to 25-30 overall and 14-14 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have been in decent shape as they’ve won six of their past 10 games, but they will be looking to bounce back after falling to the Rockets in a 120-104 road loss on Monday. Luka Doncic was the lone bright spot for the team as he racked up 21 points with 10 rebounds and eight assists, Jalen Brunson added 13 points while Dwight Powell chipped in with 12 points off the bench. As a team, the Mavericks shot 47 percent from the field and 13 of 36 from the 3-point line, but they were always fighting an uphill battle after the Rockets came out fast in the third quarter to lead by as many as 20 points. With the loss, Dallas fell to 26-30 overall and 6-22 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 0-5 ATS in their last five games following a loss of more than 10 points, 28-11-1 ATS in their last 40 road games against a team with a home record above .600 and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Mavericks are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record, 4-1-1 ATS in their last six home games and 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
Head to head, the road team is 22-8-2 ATS in the last 32 meetings, the Heat are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall and 12-3-1 ATS in the last 16 meetings in Dallas.
For whatever reason, the Heat just can’t seem to build any sort of momentum as they’ve won just one of their last seven games and things went from bad to worse in their blowout loss to the Nuggets on Monday. The Mavericks haven’t been too bad lately with Doncic leading the way, but he’s only a rookie and the Mavericks are dealing with drastic roster changes so they’re certainly vulnerable. It’s hard to split these two teams, but the Heat are 12-3-1 ATS in the last 16 meetings in Dallas and I think they can snap out of their funk with a much-needed road win here.
