The Dallas Mavericks play host to the Sacramento Kings at the American Airlines Centre on Tuesday night.
The Sacramento Kings have lost five of their last seven games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling to the Timberwolves in a 111-106 road loss on Sunday. D’Aaron Fox led the team with 23 points on eight of 16 shooting, Buddy Hield added 16 points off the bench while Zach Randolph chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Kings shot 47 percent from the field and 10 of 25 from the three-point line as they played hard to lead by as many as seven points late in the third quarter, but they just couldn’t keep up with the much more talented Timberwolves who took over in the fourth quarter where they outscored the Kings by 36-26. With the loss, Sacramento dropped to 17-38 overall and 9-21 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have won just three of their past 14 games and they will be looking to bounce back after falling short in a 104-97 road loss to the Rockets on Sunday. Yogi Ferrell led the team with 20 points on seven of 14 shooting, Dennis Smith Jr. added 16 points with 11 asists while Dwight Powell chipped in with 18 points and 12 rebounds. As a team, the Mavericks shot just 40 percent from the field and 10 of 31 from the three-point line but they did a great job of competing until the Rockets pulled away in the third quarter. There was just no stopping the backcourt duo of James Harden and Chris Paul who combined for 52 points. With the loss, Dallas dropped to 18-39 overall and 7-21 on the road where they have lost three straight and six of their last seven.
Looking at the betting trends, the Kings are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a losing record, 5-1 ATS in their last six road games and 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a loss. Meanwhile, the Mavericks are 7-17 ATS in their last 24 games against a team with a losing record, 4-1 ATS in their last five against the Western Conference and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 11-4 in the last 15 meetings, the Kings are 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings overall and 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Dallas.
You really couldn’t back either team with much confidence they way they’ve been playing lately as neither team have been able to win with much consistency. These two teams have met twice this season with the Mavericks winning by 106-99 back on Feb 3, but the Kings have covered in seven of the last nine meetings overall so that’s where I’m leaning in this one. This is definitely one of those games I’m steering well clear of, but if I had to choose, I’d take the Kings with the points.
