The Dallas Mavericks play host to the San Antonio Spurs at the American Airlines Center on Tuesday night.
The San Antonio Spurs went through a tough eight-game stretch where they lost seven games, but they look to have bounced back in fine fashion, racking up five straight wins after blowing past the Bucks in a 121-114 home win on Sunday. LaMarcus Aldridge led the team with 29 points and 15 rebounds, DeMar DeRozan added 28 points with six assists while Patty Mills and Marco Belinelli each scored 16 points. As a team, the Spurs shot 49 percent from the field and 12 of 29 from the 3-point line as they outscored the Bucks by 67-54 to run away with their eighth straight home win after falling behind by as many as 15 points in the first quarter. With the win, San Antonio improved to 38-29 on the season and 26-7 at home which is good for seventh place in the Western Conference standings.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have really fallen off the pace with 10 losses in their last 11 games and they will be aiming to snap a five-game skid after falling just short against the Rockets in a 94-93 home loss on Sunday. Luka Doncic led the team with 19 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists, Jalen Brunson added 18 points with seven rebounds and four assists while Maximilian Kleber chipped in with a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds. As a team, the Mavericks shot 41 percent from the field and nine of 32 from the 3-point line as they trailed by nine points after three quarters, before holding the Rockets to just 13 points in the fourth quarter, but the Mavericks fell painfully short as Brunson had his potential game-winning shot blocked by Chris Paul at the buzzer. With the loss, Dallas fell to 27-39 on the season and 21-12 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Spurs are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record, 2-7 ATS in their last nine road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Mavericks are 19-9-1 ATS in their last 29 home games, 1-5 ATS in their last six against the Western Conference and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
Head to head, the road team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings, the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings in Dallas and the Spurs are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings.
The Mavericks have been in a slump lately, but they almost pulled off the major upset against the Rockets in their last outing, so they’re still a dangerous team with Doncic on the court. However, the Spurs have been building nicely with five straight wins and they’ve already beaten the Mavericks twice this season. There's always a chance the Spurs could have a letdown performance after taking down the league-leading Bucks in their last outing, but the Spurs are clearly the team in better form so that where's I'm going in this one.
