The Minnesota Timberwolves travel to the Pepsi Center to battle the Denver Nuggets tonight.
The Timberwolves got their season going with an impressive 112-111 win over the Lakers in their season opener. Ricky Rubio led from the front with a monster night of 28 points and 14 assists while Kevin Martin added 23 points in 29 minutes off the bench. Kyle Anthony-Towns had a solid debut outing, finishing the game with 14 points and 12 rebounds while shooting 6 of 10 from the field but Andrew Wiggins struggled mightily, finishing with just nine points on 2 of 9 shooting.
Meanwhile, the Nuggets were also victorious in their season opener, beating the shorthanded Rockets by 105-85. Danilo Gallinari led all scorers with 23 points, while Kenneth Faried added 18 points on 8 of 10 shooting. Emanuel Mudiay had a bit of a mixed outing in his first NBA game, scoring 17 points with nine assists, but he did commit 11 turnovers as he adapts to the NBA.
In ATS trends, the Wolves are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games following a win, while the Nuggets are 4-0 ATS in their last four against the Western Conference and 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games following a win.
Head to head, the Wolves are 4-9 ATS in the last 13 meetings overall and 12-4 ATS in the last 16 meetings in Denver.
Both the Nuggets and the Wolves looked pretty good in their respective season openers, but I’m going to give the slight edge to the Wolves who could finish as one of the most improved teams in the league.
