The Line: Denver Nuggets -13.5 -- Over/Under: 234.5
The New Orleans Pelicans and Denver Nuggets meet Saturday in NBA action at the Pepsi Center.
The New Orleans Pelicans look for another victory after splitting their last 10 games. The New Orleans Pelicans are averaging 115.7 points on 47.7 percent shooting and allowing 115.1 points on 46.5 percent shooting. Anthony Davis is averaging 27.5 points and 12.5 rebounds while Jrue Holiday is averaging 21 points and 7.9 assists. Julius Randle is the third double-digit scorer and E'Twaun Moore is grabbing 2.4 rebounds. The New Orleans Pelicans are shooting 34.2 percent from beyond the arc and 76.8 percent from the free throw line. The New Orleans Pelicans are allowing 36.4 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 47.1 rebounds per game. The New Orleans Pelicans have lost four of their last six road games.
The Denver Nuggets look for another victory after winning 11 of their last 15 games. The Denver Nuggets are averaging 112.2 points on 47 percent shooting and allowing 107 points on 45.7 percent shooting. Nikola Jokic is averaging 20.6 points and 10.8 rebounds while Jamal Murray is averaging 18.2 points and 4.9 assists. Gary Harris is the third double-digit scorer and Paul Millsap is grabbing seven rebounds. The Denver Nuggets are shooting 35.6 percent from beyond the arc and 75.2 percent from the free throw line. The Denver Nuggets are allowing 34.2 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 46.9 rebounds per game. The Denver Nuggets have won 10 of their last 12 home games.
The Nuggets are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games, 8-2 ATS in their last 10 home games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games playing on 1 days rest. The Pelicans are 4-9 ATS in the last 13 meetings in Denver and 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. The under is 4-0 in Nuggets last 4 overall. The over is 4-1 in Pelicans last 5 overall.
The Denver Nuggets at home has been an automatic bet for me, as they're 22-10 ATS and have covered eight of their last 10 games. The New Orleans Pelicans are a complete mess with the Anthony Davis drama and are on the end of a back to back, but they continue to compete and are fresh off a comfortable win over the Phoenix Suns. The Pelicans have had a lot of close losses and don't often play like a team that has every reason in the world to pack it in. This seems like too many points to lay, even if the trends suggest a Nuggets blowout. I'll take my chances with the truckload of points.
