The Line: Denver -8 -- Over/Under 230
The Sacramento Kings pay a visit to the Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center on Wednesday night.
The Sacramento Kings have quietly been one of the hottest teams in the league as they’ve won five of their last six games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after taking down the Suns in a 117-104 home win on Sunday. Marvin Bagley III led the team with a season-high 32 points on 10 of 15 shooting, Buddy Hield added 18 points while De’Aaron Fox chipped in with 17 points and nine assists. As a team, the Kings shot 45 percent from the field and nine of 31 from the 3-point line, but this win was all about their intensity in the first half as they never looked in danger after taking a 19-point lead going into halftime. With the win, Sacramento improved to 30-26 overall and 19-11 at home.
Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets have been in great form as they’ve won seven of their past 10 games and they will be feeling much better after snapping an ugly three-game skid with a 103-87 home win on Monday. Nikola Jokic led the team with 23 points, 12 rebounds and four assists, Malik Beasley added 23 points while Monte Morris provided the spark off the bench with 17 points and seven assists. As a team, the Nuggets shot just 42 percent from the field, but they were great on the defensive end, especially in the fourth quarter where they held the Heat to just 17 points. With the win, Denver improved to 38-18 overall and 24-4 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Kings are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games, 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a winning record and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall. The Nuggets are 21-8 ATS in their last 29 home games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 5-11 ATS in their last 16 against the Western Conference.
Head to head, the over is 7-2 in the last nine meetings in Denver, the Kings are 1-7 ATS in the last eight meetings overall and 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Denver.
I really like what the Kings have been doing lately as they’re coming into this game with plenty of momentum, but the Nuggets have been one of the best teams all season and they’re currently 24-4 at home this season. The Kings are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games and they are just 1-7 ATS in the last eight meetings against the Nuggets, so I’m sticking with Denver to get the win and cover in this one.
