Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Knicks and the Detroit Pistons duke it out at Little Caesars Arena on Friday night.

The New York Knicks have been in a world of hurt lately as they’ve lost 22 of their last 23 games and they will be hoping to snap a 14-game losing streak after falling short against the Pistons in a 105-92 home loss on Tuesday. Dennis Smith Jr. led the team in scoring with 25 points and six assists, Mitchell Robinson added 13 points with 10 rebounds while Kevin Knox chipped in with 11 points, but no other Knicks player finished in double figures. As a team, the Knicks shot just 40 percent from the field and nine of 33 from the 3-point line but they never led after falling behind by 12 points in the first quarter. With the loss, New York fell to 10-43 overall and 4-21 at home.

Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons haven’t been at their best lately, but they’ve found a bit of form with three wins in their last four outings after blowing past the new-look Knicks on Tuesday. Blake Griffin led the team with 29 points, six rebounds and eight assists, Reggie Jackson and Reggie Bullock each scored 19 points while Andre Drummond racked up 17 points with 16 rebounds and five blocks. As a team, the Pistons shot 46 percent from the field and 12 of 34 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 38 points in the first quarter before they pulled away in the second half where they held the Knicks to just 38 points. With the win, Detroit improved to 24-29 overall and 9-16 on the road.

Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games, 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall. The Pistons are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, 7-2 ATS in their last nine games against a team below .400 and 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on two days rest.

Head to head, the road team is 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings and the favorite is 19-7 ATS in the last 26 meetings.

The Pistons easily beat the new-look Knicks despite playing on zero days rest on Tuesday, so it’s hard to make much of an argument for the Knicks who are still trying to work new players into the mix. The Pistons haven’t been great at home as they’re 1-4 ATS in their last five home games but the Knicks are 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall and I think that trend continues as the Pistons take advantage of the Knicks going through a roster overhaul.

Pick:
Detroit -8.5
