The Golden State Warriors play host to the Los Angeles Clippers at the Oracle Arena on Sunday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been in great form as they’ve won 13 of their last 17 games, but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling to the shorthanded Lakers in a 122-117 home loss on Friday. Danilo Gallinari led the team with 27 points with six rebounds and eight assists, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 20 points with eight rebounds and six assists while Lou Williams chipped in with 18 points and eight assists off the bench. As a team, the Clippers shot 44 percent from the field and 10 of 29 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control after outscoring the Lakers by 37-26 in the second quarter to lead by as many as 12 points, but the Lakers flipped the script in the second half and were able to steal the game in the fourth quarter where they poured in 38 points. With the loss, Los Angeles fell to 47-33 overall and 25-15 at home which has them sitting in sixth place in the Western Conference.
Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors have been on a nice run as they’ve won eight of their last 10 games and they will be gunning for a fifth straight victory after sneaking past the lowly Cavaliers in a 120-114 home win on Friday. Stephen Curry drained nine 3-pointers on his way to 40 points, six rebounds and seven assists, Draymond Green added 20 points with eight rebounds and five assists while Kevin Durant chipped in with 15 points and eight assists. As a team, the Warriors shot 52 percent from the field and 20 of 37 from the 3-point line as they dominated the first half to take a 19-point lead going into halftime, but they had to regroup late as the Cavaliers cut the deficit to just three points with 2:02 left on the clock. With the narrow win, Golden State improved to 55-24 overall and 29-11 at home which is good for top place in the Western Conference.
Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 Sunday games, 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven road games. The Warriors are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record, 1-8 ATS in their last nine Sunday games and 8-20-1 ATS in their last 29 home games.
Head to head, the road team is 8-1 ATS in the last nine meetings and the over is 9-1 in the last 10 meetings. The Clippers are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in Golden State.
The Golden State Warriors beat the Clippers by 18 points in the last meeting and have a long history of beating them like a drum over the years. The Warriors are starting to look more like the Warriors of old lately, which includes 51.4 percent shooting in their last five games and winning those games by an average of 16.8 points. The Los Angeles Clippers don't have the firepower to keep up when the top tier teams in the West are firing on all cylinders. This could be another Warriors beatdown of their old rival.
