The Line: Houston -10 -- Over/Under 227.5
The Sacramento Kings pay a visit to the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center on Saturday night.
The Sacramento Kings have been in decent form lately as they’ve won four of their last seven games, but they will now be looking to bounce back after falling just short against the shorthanded Pelicans in a 121-118 road loss on Thursday. Buddy Hield led the team with 27 points on 11 of 21 shooting, De’Aaron Fox added 25 points with 12 assists while Willie Cauley-Stein chipped in with 18 points, 12 rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Kings shot 49 percent from the field and 10 of 23 from the 3-point line, but the problems were on the defensive end as they had their hands full with Julius Randle who scored 34 points and Christian Wood who finished with a career-high 25 points in a surprise effort. The Kings were just too soft in the interior as they allowed a total of 74 points in the paint. With the loss, Sacramento fell to 37-38 overall and 14-23 on the road
Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets have been on fire for a while now as they’ve won 15 of their last 18 games and they will be looking to stay hot after blowing away the Nuggets in a 112-85 home win on Thursday. James Harden led the team with 38 points and six assists, Clint Capela added 17 points with 15 rebounds while Eric Gordon chipped in with 18 points. As a team, the Rockets shot 46 percent from the field and 15 of 40 from the 3-point line as they struggled in the first quarter, before taking control of the game in the second quarter where they outscored the Nuggets by 40-19. With the dominant win, Houston improved to 48-28 overall and 28-10 at home which is good for fourth place in the Western Conference standings.
Looking at the betting trends, the Kings are 6-0 ATS in their last six games against a team above .600, 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 35-16 ATS in their last 51 games following a loss. The Rockets are 5-12-1 ATS in their last 18 games against a team with a losing record, 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a win of more than 10 points and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five against the Western Conference.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings, the Kings are 10-21 ATS in the last 31 meetings overall and the Kings are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Houston.
The Kings were simmering with four wins in six outings before falling to the struggling Pelicans in a disappointing effort, so they will be keen to bounce back here. However, the Rockets have been the hottest team in the league and their confidence will be sky-high after dismantling the highly-touted Nuggets on Thursday. The Kings are just 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Houston and they’ve already been blown out by the Rockets twice this season. With that being said, I’m sticking with the red-hot Rockets to get even hotter as they get the win and cover in this one.
