The Line: Indiana -5 -- Over/Under 217.5
The Charlotte Hornets pay a visit to the Indiana Pacers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Monday night.
The Charlotte Hornets have been in decent shape as they’ve won eight of their last 13 games and they will be looking to build some momentum after sneaking past the Hawks in a 129-120 road win on Saturday. Kemba Walker led the team with 37 points and seven assists, Marvin Williams added 27 points on 12 of 16 shooting while Jeremy Lamb chipped in with 24 points, six rebounds and seven assists. As a team, the Hornets shot a healthy 54 percent from the field and 19 of 42 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates to set the tone with 46 points in the first quarter before putting the game out of reach in the third quarter where they outscored the Hawks by 33-18 to lead by as many as 20 points. With the win, Charlotte improved to 27-28 overall and 8-19 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have been in great form as they’ve won eight of their last 12 games and they will be gunning for a sixth straight victory after blowing past the slumping Cavaliers in a 105-90 home loss on Saturday. Bojan Bogdanovic led the team with 23 points, Darren Collison added 18 points with nine assists, and Myles Turner scored 14 points while Cory Joseph chipped in with 10 points, nine rebounds and 10 assists off the bench. As a team, the Pacers shot a healthy 53 percent from the field and nine of 26 from the 3-point line as they made light work of the Cavaliers after taking an 18-point lead midway through the third quarter. With the win, Indiana improved to 37-19 overall and 21-7 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hornets are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record, 2-10 ATS in their last 12 road games against a team with a winning home record and 4-1 ATS in their last five Monday games. The Pacers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games, 4-9 ATS in their last 13 against the Eastern Conference and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 9-2 ATS in the last 11 meetings, the under is 23-7 in the last 30 meetings in Indiana and the Hornets are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Indiana.
The Hornets haven’t been at their best and they’re coming into this game fresh off an unconvincing win over the lowly Suns. The Pacers have been playing shorthanded for a while now, but they’ve been playing great team basketball without Victor Oladipo and it’s really sparked them on this run. The home team is 9-2 ATS in the last 11 meetings and I think that trend continues as the Pacers stay hot at home where they’ve won three straight.
