The Line: Indiana +1 -- Over/Under 211.5
The Denver Nuggets pay a visit to the Indiana Pacers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Sunday night.
The Denver Nuggets have been on a nice run lately as they’ve won seven of their last eight games and they will be looking to build on their current six-game win streak after making light work of the Knicks in a 111-93 road win on Friday. Nikola Jokic led the team with 21 points, 17 rebounds and five assists, Jamal Murray added 18 points with five assists while Gary Harris chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Nuggets shot just 41 percent from the field and 15 of 38 from the 3-point line, but they did all their damage in the first quarter where they outscored the Knicks by 37-18 to put the game out of reach early. With the easy win, Denver improved to 49-22 on the season and 19-16 on the road which is currently good for second place in the Western Conference.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have been in a rut lately as they’ve lost six of their last eight games and they will be hoping to put a halt to a four-game skid after getting destroyed by the Warriors in a 112-89 road loss on Thursday. Tyreke Evans led the team with 20 points off the bench, Thaddeus Young finished with 18 points while Doug McDermott chipped in with 11 points. As a team, the Pacers shot just 38 percent from the field and six of 23 from the 3-point line as they fell behind by 10 points going into halftime, before getting blown out in the third quarter where thy were outscored by 35-19. With the tough loss, Indiana fell to 44-29 on the season and 17-20 on the road which is good for fourth place in the Eastern Conference.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nuggets are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a win and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team above .600. The Pacers are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 home games, 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games against a team above .600 and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings, the underdog is 15-5-1 ATS in the last 21 meetings and the Nuggets are 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings in Indiana.
The Nuggets look to be peaking at the right time as they’re coming into this one looking for a seventh straight victory, while the Pacers have been in a real slump lately as they suffered three close losses in a row, before getting routed by the Warriors on Thursday. These teams last met on Mar 15 and it was the Nuggets who won by 102-100 in a close contest, but the Pacers have been in a real slump lately and I don’t think they will get their revenge in this one. Give me the Nuggets to stay hot with a win and cover here.
