The Indiana Pacers play host to the Detroit Pistons at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Friday night.
The Detroit Pistons have been in a real slump as they've lost nine of their last 12 games but they will be looking to build some momentum after snapping a two-game skid with a 106-95 loss to the Wizards on Wednesday. Blake Griffin led the team with 23 points, nine rebounds and six assists, Langston Galloway added 22 points while Reggie Jackson chipped in with 19 points and six assists. As a team, the Pistons shot 46 percent from the field and 14 of 37 from the 3-point line as they toiled with the Wizards in a tightly contested first half before taking control in the third quarter where they outscored the Wizards by 31-17. With the much-needed win, Detroit improved to 16-16 overall and 11-8 at home.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have been on a tear as they've won 10 of their last 12 games and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after taking down the Hawks in a 129-121 road win on Wednesday. Thaddeus Young led the team in scoring with 21 points on nine of 12 shooting, Domantas Sabonis and Tyreke Evans each scored 19 points while Victor Oladipo chipped in with 16 points and seven assists. As a team, the Pacers shot a healthy 55 percent from the field and 13 of 27 from the 3-point line but the Pacers turned this game around with their defense, holding the Hawks to just 21 points in the third quarter after allowing a total of 67 points in the first half. With the win, Indiana improved to 23-12 overall and 11-7 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 14-6 ATS in their last 20 road games, 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 0-4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team above .600. The Pacers are 7-2 ATS in their last nine games following a win and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings, the Pistons are 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall and 1-6 ATS in the last seven meetings in Indiana.
The Pistons have been in rough shape lately as they haven't been able to string together wins and they've typically stuggled against the better teams in the league as they are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record. Conversely, the Pacers are currently one of the hottest teams in the league and they are 6-1 ATS in the last seven home meetings against the Pistons. With that being said, I'm sticking with the Pacers to stay hot with another win and cover in this one.
