The Indiana Pacers look for their first home win of the season when they host the Memphis Grizzlies tonight.
The Pacers just couldn't quite get things going in their 106-99 loss to the Raptors in the season opener. George Hill led the scoring with 19 points while CJ Miles added 18 points, but the highlight of the night was Paul George who scored 17 points with 12 rebounds and eight assists in what was a poor shooting night for the Pacers who shot just 37.2 percent from the field. Monta Ellis had a particularly rough game in his debut for the Pacers, scoring just nine points on three of 11 shooting as he figures out his place in the offense.
Meanwhile, the Grizzlies had themselves a season opener to forget, losing to the Cavaliers by 106-76 last night. Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol led the team with 12 points each but no other player even reached double figures as the team shot just 35.4 percent from the field. Right from the tipoff, the Grizzlies were a step slow against the Cavaliers and got absolutely torched, falling behind by 26-10 after the first quarter and 53-32 at the half, so expect a much better start from them tonight.
In ATS trends, the Grizzlies are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 Thursday games and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games overall, while the Pacers rae 4-1 ATS in their last five home games and 0-5 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days rest.
Head to head, the Grizzlies are 11-3 ATS in the last 14 meetings overall and 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings in Indiana.
Both squads will be eager to register their first win but I'm liking the Grizzlies to get it done with the home court advantage and especially because of the Pacers playing on the second night of a back to back set.
