The Orlando Magic and the Indiana Pacers collide at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Saturday night.
The Orlando Magic have been playing some of their best basketball of the season as they’ve won nine of their past 12 games and they will be full of confidence after taking down the Warriors in a 103-96 upset on Thursday. Aaron Gordon led the team with 22 points, 15 rebounds and three assists, Terrence Ross added 16 points and five assists off the bench while Nikola Vucevic racked up 12 points with 13 rebounds and six assists. As a team, the Magic shot 44 percent from the field and 11 of 31 from the 3-point line as they rallied in the fourth quarter after falling behind in the third quarter where the shorthanded Warriors outscored them by 30-11. With the impressive win, Orlando improved to 29-34 overall which is currently good for eighth place in the Eastern Conference.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have been in good shape themselves as they’ve won nine of their last 12 games and they will be looking to stay hot after taking down the Timberwolves in a 122-115 home win on Thursday. Bojan Bogdanovic led the team with a season-high 37 points on 13 of 22 shooting, TJ Leaf added 18 points off the bench while Thaddeus Young chipped in with 15 points and five assists. As a team, the Pacers shot 47 percent from the field and an impressive 16 of 27 from the 3-point line as they overcame a 42-point performance from the Timberwolves’ Karl-Anthony Towns. What made the win more impressive was that the Pacers were without Domantas Sabonis and Tyreke Evans who were both sidelined with injuries. With the win, Indiana improved to 41-22 overall which is good for third place in the Eastern Conference.
Looking at the betting trends, the Magic are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Pacers are 6-1 ATS in their last seven home games, 5-1 ATS in their last six Saturday games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 23-10 in the last 33 meetings in Indiana, the Magic are 7-20 ATS in the last 27 meetings overall and 2-7 ATS in the last nine meetings in Indiana.
It is impressive the way the Pacers have been able to keep winning games despite being so shorthanded, but you just wonder how much longer they can maintain this with their injury list growing. The Magic have really come to life lately and they will be looking to stay hot after taking down the Warriors in their last outing. These teams have split two meetings this season, but I just feel like this is a great spot for the Magic to steal another win while the Pacers are undermanned.
