The Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers meet Friday in NBA action at the Staples Center.
The Brooklyn Nets look for another victory after splitting their last 12 games. The Brooklyn Nets are averaging 111.6 points on 44.9 percent shooting and allowing 112 points on 45.7 percent shooting. D'Angelo Russell is averaging 20.7 points and 6.9 assists while Caris LeVert is averaging 13.5 points and four rebounds. Joe Harris is the third double-digit scorer and Jarrett Allen is grabbing 8.4 rebounds. The Brooklyn Nets are shooting 35.3 percent from beyond the arc and 74.6 percent from the free throw line. The Brooklyn Nets are allowing 34.1 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 46 rebounds per game. The Brooklyn Nets have lost four of their last six road games.
The Los Angeles Lakers could also use a win after losing nine of their last 10 games. The Los Angeles Lakers are averaging 111.8 points on 47.3 percent shooting and allowing 114 points on 45.4 percent shooting. LeBron James is averaging 27.5 points and eight assists while Kyle Kuzma is averaging 18.5 points and 5.6 rebounds. Brandon Ingram is the third double-digit scorer and JaVale McGee is grabbing 6.8 rebounds. The Los Angeles Lakers are shooting 33.1 percent from beyond the arc and 69.4 percent from the free throw line. The Los Angeles Lakers are allowing 35.2 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 46 rebounds per game. The Los Angeles Lakers have lost their last four home games.
The Nets are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 vs. Western Conference, 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games playing on 2 days rest and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a ATS win. The Lakers are 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 games playing on 2 days rest, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games and 3-13 ATS in their last 16 games overall. The Nets are 5-2-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings in Los Angeles and the underdog is 3-1-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. The under is 36-17-1 in Lakers last 54 home games. The under is 7-2 in Nets last 9 overall.
I'm not exactly sure why the Lakers are favored, especially with LeBron James being questionable with a groin injury. The Lakers have clearly checked out with the losses piling up and playoffs no longer a possibility, and they're losing their last five games by an average of 5.2 points. The Brooklyn Nets haven't been great on the road, but to say they're playing better than the Lakers would be an understatement, and they're 21-15 ATS on the road. This is also a game where the red hot D'Angelo Russell can kind of stick it to his former team, adding to the Lakers misery. I'll gladly take the free bucket with the better team.
