The Milwaukee Bucks and the Los Angeles Lakers duke it out at the STAPLES Center on Friday night.
The Milwaukee Bucks have been the hottest team in the league for a while now as they’ve won 18 of their last 20 games and they will be gunning for a seventh straight victory after escaping Sacramento with a 141-140 overtime win on Wednesday. Eric Bledsoe led the way with a triple-double of 26 points with 12 rebounds and 13 assists, Malcolm Brogdon added 25 points on nine of 11 shooting while Nikola Mirotic and Khris Middleton each scored 21 points. Giannis Antetokounmpo wasn’t his usual self as he is working with a minutes restriction, but he still managed 17 points in 24 minutes as the Bucks shot 48 percent from the field and 17 of 45 from the 3-point line, but they really had to battle in overtime after squandering a 17-point lead in the third quarter. With the win, Milwaukee improved to 47-14 overall which is good for first place in the league.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers haven’t been at their best as they’ve lost six of their last nine games, but they will be feeling a little better after taking down the Pelicans in a much-needed 125-119 home win on Wednesday. LeBron James led the way with 33 points and 10 assists including a clutch 3-pointer to seal the win, Brandon Ingram added 23 points, Kyle Kuzma scored 22 points while Rajon Rondo chipped in with 11 points and 16 assists. As a team, the Lakers shot 52 percent from the field and eight of 25 from the 3-point line, but they really had to scrap all the way till the end as they couldn’t get any separation until the fourth quarter where the Pelicans decided to sit Anthony Davis. With the win, Los Angeles improved to 30-31 overall which is currently good for 10th place in the Western Conference standings.
Looking at the betting trends, the Bucks are 15-5-2 ATS in their last 22 road games, 13-5-1 ATS in their last 19 games against a team with a losing record and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games overall. The Lakers are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 home games against a team with a road record above .600 and 6-19-1 ATS in their last 26 against the Eastern Conference.
Head to head, the underdog is 21-7-1 ATS in the last 29 meetings and the Bucks are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.
The Bucks are just red-hot right now as they’ve reeled off another six straight wins, so they’re deserved road favorites against the Lakers who are trying their best just to make the playoffs. This will be the first meeting between the teams this season and the Lakers really need this win, but the Bucks will be up for this matchup and I think they should be too good here.
