The Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Clippers collide at the STAPLES Center on Monday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have lost eight of their past 10 games but they will be feeling a little better after snapping a five-game skid with a 106-99 road win over the Kings on Saturday. Harrison Barnes led the team in scoring with 18 points on seven of 14 shooting, Dwight Powell added 17 points while Dirk Nowitzki chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Mavericks shot 49 percent from the field and 13 of 41 from the three-point but it was really their defense in the fourth quarter that was the difference as they held the Kings to just two points in the first 5:08 to open up a 12-point lead. With the win, Dallas improved to 17-36 overall and 7-18 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers have lost four of their last seven games but they will be looking to build on Saturday’s 113-103 home win over the Bulls. Danilo Gallinari and Tobias Harris each scored 24 points, Lou Williams added 21 points and six assists off the bench while Montrezl Harrell chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Clippers shot 45 percent from the field while holding the Bulls to just 36 percent shooting, but to be fair, the Bulls were without key starters in Kris Dunn and Lauri Markkanen. With the win, Los Angeles improved to 26-25 overall and 15-12 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 7-2 ATS in their last nine road games, 14-6-1 ATS in their last 21 games against a team with a winning record and 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games against a team with a winning home record. Meanwhile, the Clippers are 10-2-1 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a losing record, 13-3-1 ATS in their last 17 games following a win and 19-8-1 ATS in their last 28 games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 3-0-1 ATS in the last four meetings, the Mavericks are 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and 1-4-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Los Angeles.
The Mavericks have covered in seven of their last nine road games but the Clippers have covered in 10 of their last 13 games against a team with a losing record so something has got to give here. The Clippers are going through several personnel changes but I like the way they have been playing lately, especially Harris who lookged great in Saturday's win.
