The Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers meet Sunday in NBA action at the Staples Center.
The Houston Rockets look for their second road victory of the season to get a game above a .500 record. The Houston Rockets are averaging 118 points on 44.1 percent shooting and allowing 123 points on 50.5 percent shooting. James Harden is averaging 27 points and eight rebounds while Chris Paul is averaging 23.5 points and eight assists. Eric Gordon is the third double-digit scorer and Clint Capela is grabbing 10 rebounds. The Houston Rockets are shooting 35.6 percent from beyond the arc and 70.4 percent from the free throw line. The Houston Rockets are allowing 31.6 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 45.5 rebounds per game. The Houston Rockets have won six of their last eight road games.
The Los Angeles Clippers look to get a game above a .500 record when they play their third straight home game. The Los Angeles Clippers are averaging 103 points on 41.7 percent shooting and allowing 99.5 points on 36.8 percent shooting. Tobias Harris is averaging 22.5 points and 10 rebounds while Danilo Gallinari is averaging 21 points and 6.5 rebounds. Lou Williams is the third double-digit scorer and Boban Marjanovic is grabbing 6.5 rebounds. The Los Angeles Clippers are shooting 35.2 percent from beyond the arc and 78.3 percent from the free throw line. The Los Angeles Clippers are allowing 26.3 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 47 rebounds per game. The Los Angeles Clippers have lost five of their last seven home games.
The Rockets are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games playing on 0 days rest, 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games and 7-15 ATS in their last 22 vs. NBA Pacific. The Clippers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 vs. Western Conference and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Rockets are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings, the underdog is 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings and the under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings.
The Houston Rockets have been shaky at best on the defensive end through two games and I'm sure playing on the end of a back to back after an emotional game against the Lakers won't help matters. The Los Angeles Clippers started the season with a victory over a playoff team in the OKC Thunder and a near win over the Denver Nuggets before falling apart in the fourth quarter. The Clippers are a solid team that gets after it defensively and aren't the type of team you want to face on possible tired legs. Based on the value here, I like the Clippers and the free bucket.
