The Los Angeles Clippers play host to the Portland Trailblazers at the STAPLES Center on Monday night.
The Portland Trailblazers haven’t been at their best as they’ve lost five of their last eight games but they will be looking for a bit of momentum after edging out the Raptors in a 128-122 home win on Friday. Damian Lillard led the team with 24 points on eight of 10 shooting, Zach Collins added 16 points off the bench while CJ McCollum chipped in with 14 points and four assists. As a team, the Trailblazers shot 51 percent from the field and 13 of 27 from the 3-point line as they finished with a season-high for points to edge out the red-hot Raptors in a shootout. With the much-needed win, Portland improved to 16-13 on the season and 11-4 at home.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers have been in a bit of a slump as they’ve lost five of their last six games and they will be hoping to snap a three-game skid after falling to the Thunder in a 110-104 road loss on Saturday. Danilo Gallinari led the team with 28 points on 10 of 16 shooting, Tobias Harris added 22 points while Montrezl Harrell chipped in with 21 points off the bench. As a team, the Clippers shot 50 percent from the field and 13 of 25 from the 3-point line but they left their run too late as they fell just short after falling behind by as many as 19 points late in the third quarter. With the loss, Los Angeles fell to 17-12 on the season and 8-9 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Trailblazers are 5-16 ATS in their last 21 road games, 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 3-10 ATS in their last 13 games overall. The Clippers are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 home games and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the road team is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings, the Trailblazers are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in LA.
The Trailblazers have been disappointing over their last eight games or so, but they will certainly be full of confidence following their impressive win over the Raptors on Friday. The Clippers were one of the surprise teams of the league but have since fallen off the pace with just one win in their last six games. These two teams have split two meetings this season but the Trailblazers are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Los Angeles and I think they represent nice value as the slight road underdog in this one.
