The Line: Los Angeles Lakers -6.5 -- Over/Under: 233.5
The Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers meet Wednesday in NBA action at the Staples Center.
The Dallas Mavericks could use a feel good victory here that would snap a four-game losing streak. The Dallas Mavericks are averaging 111.1 points on 44.1 percent shooting and allowing 117 points on 49.2 percent shooting. Luka Doncic is averaging 20.4 points and four assists while Wesley Matthews is averaging 18.3 points and 2.9 rebounds. Dennis Smith Jr. is the third double-digit scorer and DeAndre Jordan is grabbing 15.1 rebounds. The Dallas Mavericks are shooting 32.4 percent from beyond the arc and 74.9 percent from the free throw line. The Dallas Mavericks are allowing 46.9 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 44.1 rebounds per game. The Dallas Mavericks have lost all four road games this season.
The Los Angeles Lakers could also use a win here to rebound from a rough 2-5 record. The Los Angeles Lakers are averaging 122 points on 49.3 percent shooting and allowing 122.3 points on 47.7 percent shooting. LeBron James is averaging 27.6 points and 8.1 assists while Kyle Kuzma is averaging 19.4 points and 4.6 rebounds. Brandon Ingram is the third double-digit scorer and JaVale McGee is grabbing 6.4 rebounds. The Los Angeles Lakers are shooting 33 percent from beyond the arc and 71.1 percent from the free throw line. The Los Angeles Lakers are allowing 37.4 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 45.3 rebounds per game. The Los Angeles Lakers have lost two of their first three home games.
The Mavericks are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 vs. NBA Pacific, 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games following a ATS win and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 Wednesday games. The Lakers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 vs. Western Conference, 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Wednesday games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The home team is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings and the favorite is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings.
The Los Angeles Lakers simply haven't been a good team out of the gate and have been downright brutal on the defensive end. However, the Mavs have had defensive issues of their own and haven't played well when playing even slighty above average teams this season. The Lakers usually play their best at home and are still led by the best player in the world. The Lakers have their hands full against the playoff caliber teams in the west, but they should be able to beat up on the teams in rebuilding mode. I'll eat the reasonable line here with the Lakers.
