The Line: Memphis Grizzlies -2 -- Over/Under: 210.5
The Dallas Mavericks and the Memphis Grizzlies duke it out at the FedEx Forum on Sunday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in rough shape as they’ve lost 14 of their last 18 games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling to the Grizzlies in a 122-112 home loss on Friday. Courtney Lee led the team with 21 points and seven assists, Justin Jackson added 19 points while Trey Burke chipped in with 13 points and three assists. As a team, the Mavericks shot 42 percent from the field and 17 of 47 from the 3-point line, but they just had no answer for the Grizzlies’ Delon Wright who ran riot on his way to his first career triple-double. Luka Doncic sat out Friday with a thigh bruise and his status for Sunday is unclear. With the loss, Dallas fell to 31-48 overall and 23-17 at home.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies have lost seven of their past 11 games and they had lost two in a row before pulling out the win over the Mavericks on Friday. Delon Wright led the way with his first career triple-double as he racked up 26 points with 10 rebounds and 14 assists, Justin Holiday added 20 points while Tyler Dorsey chipped in with 17 points and nine rebounds. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 47 percent from the field and 16 of 41 from the 3-point line as they dominated the Mavericks to lead by as many as 22 points late in the third quarter before taking their foot off the gas in the fourth quarter. With the win, Memphis improved to 32-47 overall and 12-28 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a double-digit loss at home and 1-9-2 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a losing record. The Grizzlies are 4-1 ATS in their last five Sunday games, 11-4 ATS in their last 15 home games and 14-6 ATS in their last 20 against the Western Conference.
Head to head, the under is 5-1-1 in the last seven meetings, the underdog is 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings and the Mavericks are 9-4 ATS in the last 13 meetings in Memphis.
The Memphis Grizzlies have won each of the last three games against the Dallas Mavericks and all of those games were decided by double digits, and that includes a 10-point win on Friday despite being 4-point underdogs. The Grizzlies continue to play hard despite having nothing to play for, and they should have a considerable edge over a Mavericks team that's 8-31 SU on the road. Laying the bucket with the Grizzlies at home seems to be the right side.
