The Los Angeles Lakers pay a visit to the Memphis Grizzlies at the FedEx Forum on Saturday night.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been in great form as they’ve won seven of their past 10 games but they will still be licking their wounds after having their four-game win streak snapped by the Spurs in last night’s 133-120 loss at San Antonio. LeBron James led the team with 35 points, eight rebounds and 11 assists, Kyle Kuzma added 27 points while Lonzo Ball chipped in with 13 points and 11 assists. As a team, the Lakers shot 46 percent from the field and 11 of 36 from the 3-point line as they controlled most of the game to lead by as many as 15 points before the Spurs flipped the game on its head in the fourth quarter where the Lakers were outscored by 44-21. With the loss, LA dropped to 15-10 on the season and 5-6 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies have been in decent form with three wins in their last four outings and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after escaping New Orleans with a narrow 107-103 win last night. JaMychal Green led the team with 24 points and eight rebounds off the bench, Kyle Anderson added 19 points with 11 rebounds and four assists, while Marc Gasol chipped in with 15 points and four assists. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 47 percent from the field and eight of 19 from the 3-point line as they escaped with the hard-fought win in a game that involved 18 lead changes. With the much-needed win, Memphis improved to 15-9 on the season and 7-6 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Lakers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games playing on zero days rest, 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven games against the Western Conference and 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games overall. The Grizzlies are 11-3 ATS in their last 14 home games, 1-6 ATS in their last seven games playing on zero days rest and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games against a team above .600.
Head to head, the home team is 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings, the over is 6-1-1 in the last eight meetings and the Lakers are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Memphis.
The Lakers have really started to pick it up lately with LeBron leading the way with big numbers on a nightly basis, but they were exposed a bit on the defensive end last night as the Spurs poured on 133 points. The Grizzlies have had a similar start to the season as the Lakers and they played a tough brand of basketball in last night’s win over the in-form Pelicans. This one could go either way, but the Grizzlies opened as slight underdogs and have been bet into favoritism at home where they are 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games and I think they improve on that betting trends with another win and cover in this one.
