The New Orleans Pelicans pay a visit to the Memphis Grizzlies at the FedEx Forum on Monday night.
The New Orleans Pelicans have been in decent shape as they’ve won five of their last nine games but they will hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting blown out by the Trailblazers in a 128-112 road loss on Friday. Anthony Davis led the team with 27 points on nine of 17 shooting, Jrue Holiday added 20 points with six assists while Julius Randle chipped in with 19 points, nine rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Pelicans shot 48 percent from the field and eight of 25 from the 3-point line but they were always trailing after falling into a 16-point deficit going into halftime as the Trailblazers poured in 42 points in the second quarter. With the loss, New Orleans fell to 21-25 overall and 6-19 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies have been in a real slump lately as they’ve lost 11 of their last 12 games and they will be hoping to snap a five-game skid after getting blown out by the Raptors in a 119-90 road loss on Saturday. Jaren Jackson Jr. led the team with 16 points and nine rebounds, Shelvin Mack added 14 points with five assists off the bench while Mike Conley chipped in with just 10 points. As a team, the Grizzlies shot just 42 percent from the field and 10 of 29 from the 3-point line as they fell behind by as many as 40 points early before the Raptors benched their starters. With the loss, Memphis fell to 19-27 overall and 8-17 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pelicans are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games following a loss of more than 10 points, 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine road games and 5-12 ATS in their last 17 games against a team with a losing record. The Grizzlies are 1-7 ATS in their last eight home games, 0-6 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 7-22 ATS in their last 29 games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings, the under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings and the Pelicans are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Memphis.
The bad is news that Anthony Davis could miss up to two weeks with a finger so the Pelicans will be shorthanded for this one. This looks like a great spot for the Grizzlies to take advantage but they've been in such a poor slump, it's hard to trust them these days. The Grizzlies are just 1-7 ATS in their last eight home games and I think that trend continues as the shorthanded Pelicans rally together for a hard-fought road win here.
