The San Antonio Spurs pay a visit to the Memphis Grizzlies at the FedEx Forum on Wednesday night.
The San Antonio Spurs have been in fantastic form as they’ve won 13 of their last 16 games and they will be aiming for a sixth straight win after taking down the Pistons in a 119-107 road win on Monday. DeMar DeRozan led the team with 26 points, seven rebounds and nine assists, LaMarcus Aldridge added 25 points on nine of 12 shooting while Derrick White chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Spurs shot a healthy 54 percent from the field and seven of 20 from the 3-point line but they were never in danger after taking control of the game with an impressive 23-2 run in the first and second quarters. With the easy win, San Antonio improved to 24-17 overall and 7-12 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies have been in a season-worst slump as they’ve lost 11 of their last 13 games and they will be hoping to put a halt to their current six-game skid after falling to the Pelicans in a 114-95 road loss on Monday. Mike Conley led the team with 22 points and 10 assists, JaMychal Green added 16 points off the bench while Jaren Jackson Jr. chipped in with 12 points but no other player finished in double figures. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 44 percent from the field and 10 of 30 from the 3-point line but they shot themselves in the foot with 18 turnovers and they couldn’t slow down the Pelicans in the second half where they were outscored by 61-44. With the loss, Memphis fell to 18-22 overall and 8-13 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Spurs are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record, 4-1-1 ATS in their last six road games and 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 games overall. The Grizzlies are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record, 0-6 ATS in their last six home games and 5-18 ATS in their last 23 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings in Memphis, the road team is 5-1-1 ATS in the last seven meetings and the Spurs are 5-2-1 ATS in the last eight meetings.
The Spurs have been on a tear lately with 13 wins in their last 16 games and they will be pretty confident coming into this one having already beaten the Grizzlies by 108-88 on Saturday. I’m expecting a much better performance from the Grizzlies but they’re mired in a real slump and I just can’t go past the Spurs who are 5-2-1 ATS in the last eight meetings.
