|Date & Time||Friday March 8, 2019, 8:00 PM (EST)|
The Line: Memphis +5 -- Over/Under 213
The Memphis Grizzlies play host to the Utah Jazz at the FedEx Forum on Friday night.
The Utah Jazz have been in fine form as they’ve won five of their last six games and they will be looking to stay hot after taking down the Pelicans in a 114-104 road win on Wednesday. Derrick Favors led the team with 25 points on nine of 11 shooting, Rudy Gobert added 22 points with 13 rebounds and four blocks while Donovan Mitchell chipped in with 22 points on 10 of 18 shooting. As a team, the Jazz shot 52 percent from the field and they racked up 70 points in the paint as they led by as many as 17 points before hanging on as the Pelicans rallied in the fourth quarter. With the win, Utah improved to 37-27 overall which is currently good for sixth place in the Western Conference standings.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies have lost six of their last nine games, but they sprung to life with three wins in their last five games and they will be looking to build on Tuesday’s 120-111 home win over the Trailblazers. Mike Conley drained six 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 40 points on 12 of 18 shooting, Delon Wright added 25 points off the bench while Jonas Valanciunas chipped in with 17 points on six of seven shooting. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 53 percent from the field and 13 of 27 from the 3-point line as they trailed for most of the game after falling behind by 16 points in the first quarter, before outscoring the Trailblazers by 38-25 in the fourth quarter to steal the game late. With the win, Memphis improved to 26-40 overall and 16-17 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Jazz are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games, 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Grizzlies are 7-2 ATS in their last nine home games, 4-0 ATS in their last four against the Western Conference and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the road team is 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings, the under is 16-7 in the last 23 meetings and the Jazz are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings.
The Jazz are on a nice run at the moment with Gobert and Mitchell putting up big numbers on a nightly basis and the same could be said for the Grizzlies who are leaning heavily on Conley. The Grizzlies are leading the season series by 2-1, but the Jazz won the last meeting by 96-88 back on Nov 12 and they have opened as road favorites here. This should be a close contest, but I’m sticking with the Jazz to stay hot with a win and cover as they continue their push towards the playoffs.
