The Miami Heat play host to the Boston Celtics at the American Airlines Arena on Wednesday night.
The Boston Celtics are looking to cap off the regular season on a high note as they’ve won three of their last four games and they will be feeling pretty confident after beating the Heat in a 110-105 home win on Monday. Kyrie Irving drained five 3-pointers on his way to 25 points, Jayson Tatum added 19 points with five assists while Al Horford racked up a triple-double of 19 points with 11 rebounds and 10 assists. As a team, the Celtics shot just 39 percent from the field and 17 of 40 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates to lead by as many as 22 points in the first quarter, before holding off a rally from the Heat in the second half. With the tough win, Boston improved to 46-32 overall and 28-12 at home which is currently good for fourth place in the Eastern Conference.
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat have been playing some of their best basketball of the season as they had won six of eight games before getting stopped by the Celtics on Monday. Goran Dragic led the team with 30 points and five assists, Bam Adebayo added 19 points with 14 rebounds while Dwyane Wade chipped in with 17 points and seven assists off the bench. As a team, the Heat shot 45 percent from the field and 10 of 37 from the 3-point line as they outplayed the Celtics for most of the game, but they were always fighting an uphill battle after falling into a 22-point deficit in the first quarter. With the loss, Miami fell to 38-39 overall and 20-18 on the road which is good for eighth place in the Eastern Conference.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 0-5 ATS in their last five games following a win, 1-4 ATS in their last five against the Eastern Conference and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. The Heat are 5-0-1 ATS in their last six games following a loss, 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record and 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine games overall.
Head to head, the road team is 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings, the Celtics are 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Celtics are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Miami.
There is always a bit of extra incentive to win these home and home sets, but the momentum is with the Celtics who managed to hold on for the narrow win after dominating the first quarter. The Heat will be looking for revenge, but they only have themselves to blame after falling behind by 22 points in the first quarter. The Celtics are 0-5 ATS in the last five games following a win while the Heat are 5-0 ATS in their last five games following a loss. With so much on the line in terms of playoff seeding, the Heat will treat this as a must-win, so I’m taking them to get the win here.
