The Houston Rockets and Miami Heat meet Thursday in NBA action at the American Airlines Arena.
The Houston Rockets look for another victory to build on their five-game winning streak. The Houston Rockets are averaging 108.7 points on 44.8 percent shooting and allowing 108.7 points on 47.5 percent shooting. James Harden is averaging 31.5 points and 8.2 assists while Clint Capela is averaging 17.2 points and 11.7 rebounds. Chris Paul is the third double-digit scorer and Eric Gordon is grabbing 2.3 rebounds. The Houston Rockets are shooting 33.9 percent from beyond the arc and 76.3 percent from the free throw line. The Houston Rockets are allowing 34.7 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 40.8 rebounds per game. The Houston Rockets have lost six of their last eight road games.
The Miami Heat look for another victory after winning six of their last nine games. The Miami Heat are averaging 106.8 points on 43.2 percent shooting and allowing 107.7 points on 44.4 percent shooting. Josh Richardson is averaging 18.6 points and 3.5 assists while Dwyane Wade is averaging 14.7 points and 3.8 assists. Hassan Whiteside is the third double-digit scorer and Rodney McGruder is grabbing 4.7 rebounds. The Miami Heat are shooting 35.9 percent from beyond the arc and 70.3 percent from the free throw line. The Miami Heat are allowing 36.4 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 47.5 rebounds per game. The Miami Heat have lost seven of their last nine home games.
The Rockets are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. Eastern Conference, 2-6 ATS in their last 8 road games and 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Heat are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 home games, 7-1 ATS in their last 8 vs. Western Conference and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The under is 4-1 in Heat last 5 overall. The under is 5-2 in Rockets last 7 overall. The under is 5-1 in Heat last 6 home games. The over is 4-1 in Rockets last 5 games playing on 0 days rest.
The Miami Heat are due for a breakout home victory given their struggles, and they're coming off their best stretch of the season in which they more than held their own on a west coast road trip. The Houston Rockets are starting to get back on track in the win department, but most of that success has come at home. On the road, the Rockets have been a defensive mess and have lost six of their last eight games. Given the Rockets struggles on the road, them being on the end of a back to back, and the fact they don't play much defense, I'm going to side with the rested Heat at home. The Heat are a competitive bunch that will hang around and needs a home win if they're serious about riting the ship.
