The Line: Milwaukee Bucks -8 -- Over/Under: 224
The Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks meet Sunday in game one of the second round NBA playoffs at the Fiserv Forum.
The Boston Celtics have had a week off and are coming off a step of the Indiana Pacers. The Boston Celtics are averaging 99.3 points on 44.4 percent shooting and allowing 91.8 points on 40.1 percent shooting. Kyrie Irving is averaging 22.5 points and 7.8 assists while Jayson Tatum is averaging 19.3 points and 5.5 rebounds. Gordon Hayward is the third double-digit scorer and Marcus Morris is grabbing 6.5 rebounds. The Boston Celtics are shooting 39.8 percent from beyond the arc and 75.9 percent from the free throw line. The Boston Celtics are allowing 33.6 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 47.8 rebounds per game. The Boston Celtics have won each of their last five road games.
The Milwaukee Bucks will play their first game since Monday and are fresh off a sweep of the Detroit Pistons. The Milwaukee Bucks are averaging 121.8 points on 51 percent shooting and allowing 98 points on 38.8 percent shooting. Giannis Antetokounmpo is averaging 26.3 points and 12 rebounds while Eric Bledsoe is averaging 19.3 points and 5.3 assists. Khris Middleton is the third double-digit scorer and Brook Lopez is grabbing 5.3 rebounds. The Milwaukee Bucks are shooting 37 percent from beyond the arc and 75.9 percent from the free throw line. The Milwaukee Bucks are allowing 33.1 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 53.3 rebounds per game. The Milwaukee Bucks have won eight of their last 10 home games.
The Celtics are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games, 7-1 ATS in their last 8 Conference Semifinals games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games playing on 3 or more days rest. The Bucks are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 Sunday games, 5-13-1 ATS in their last 19 games playing on 3 or more days rest and 35-17-2 ATS in their last 54 games overall. The Celtics are 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings in Milwaukee and 10-3 ATS in the last 13 meetings. The over is 9-2 in Bucks last 11 overall. The over is 8-3 in Celtics last 11 road games.
I'm still one of those people who aren't 100 percent buying into the Milwaukee Bucks, and they didn't get a true playoff test against the Detroit Pistons to help change my mind. On paper, the Boston Celtics are the best team in the East, it's just a matter of playing like it, and while the Indiana Pacers weren't at full strength, the Celtics dominated defensively in that series and showed flashes of being the team we expected to see before the season started. Two of the three meetings between the Celtics and Bucks this year came down to the wire, and the Celtics bounced the Bucks in the playoffs last season. The Celtics have covered 14 of their last 21 games as an underdog of six or more points and two of their last three covers were outright victories. The Bucks are 10-1-1 ATS in their last 12 games when a favorite of six or more points. The Bucks trend is obviously stronger, but I'm still leaning toward the Celtics winning this series, so I find value whenever I can get them with free points.
