The Detroit Pistons and the Milwaukee Bucks do battle at the Fiserv Forum on Wednesday night.
The Detroit Pistons have been in great form as they’ve won nine of their last 12 games but they will be looking to bounce back after having their five-game win streak snapped by the Thunder in a 110-83 home loss on Monday. Blake Griffin led the team with 20 points and four assists, but had little support as Andre Drummond scored just 13 points while Reggie Jackson chipped in with just 10 points. As a team, the Pistons shot a miserly 33 percent from the field and six of 32 from the 3-point line as they fell behind by 10 points going into halftime before getting blown out in the third quarter where they were outscored by 37-19. To add insult to injury, Reggie Bullock went down with an ankle sprain in the first quarter and has already been ruled out for Wednesday’s game. With the loss, Detroit fell to 13-8 overall and 9-4 at home.
Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks have won five of their last eight games but they will be aiming to rebound after falling just short in a 136-134 overtime loss at New York on Saturday. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the team with 33 points, 19 rebounds and seven assists, Eric Bledsoe added 27 points with seven assists while Malcolm Brogdon chipped in with 22 points and four assists. As a team, the Bucks shot 48 percent from the field and 18 of 42 from the 3-point line as they led by as many as 16 points before the Knicks closed the fourth quarter on a 25-11 run to force overtime and steal the game. With the loss, Milwaukee dropped to 15-7 overall and 4-5 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games, 14-6 ATS in their last 20 games against a team above .600 and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Bucks are 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 home games, 6-2 ATS in their last eight games following a loss and 0-5 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 3-0-1 in the last four meetings, the Pistons are 4-0-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Milwaukee.
The Bucks have fallen off the pace a little with three losses in their last five games but they will be eager to bounce back at home where they’ve won 11 of their 13 games this season. The Pistons were on a nice roll before getting stopped by the red-hot Thunder on Monday and they’re 4-0 ATS in their last five road games, but I think they will find it tough against the Bucks who will still be steaming after blowing that game against the Knicks on Saturday. I’m expecting a close contest but when it’s all said and done, I think it will be the well-rested Bucks who finish on top with a win and cover here.
