The Line: Milwaukee -8.5 -- Over/Under 232.5
The Los Angeles Clippers pay a visit to the Milwaukee Bucks at the Fiserv Forum on Thursday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been in great form lately as they’ve won 11 of their last 12 games and they will be aiming for a seventh straight victory after taking down the Timberwolves in a 122-111 road win on Tuesday. Danilo Gallinari led the team with 25 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, Lou Williams added 20 points and seven assists off the bench while Garrett Temple chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Clippers shot 54 percent from the field and 16 of 32 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates to put the game to bed early with 42 points in an explosive first quarter, allowing them to cruise in the second half. With the easy win, Los Angeles improved to 45-30 overall and 22-17 on the road which is currently good for fifth place in the Western Conference standings.
Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks have been in solid form themselves as they’ve won eight of their last 11 games and they will be gunning for a fourth straight victory after blowing past the Rockets in a 108-94 home win on Tuesday. Eric Bledsoe led the team with 23 points and seven assists, Giannis Antetokounmpo added 19 points with 14 rebounds and four assists while Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez each scored 13 points. As a team, the Bucks shot 44 percent from the field and 14 of 34 from the 3-point line as they poured in 38 points to take a five-point halftime lead before they put the game out of reach in the third quarter where they outscored the Rockets by 32-18. With the win, Milwaukee improved to 56-19 overall and 31-6 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games, 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team above .600 and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games overall. The Bucks are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games, 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 games following a win of more than 10 points and 33-16-2 ATS in their last 51 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-0 in the last four meetings in Milwaukee, the underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings and the Clippers are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings.
I thought the Clippers were going to fade out of the playoff picture when they traded away Tobias Harris, but instead they’ve been playing some of their best basketball of the season with 11 wins in their last 12 games. The Bucks have been in great form as well and they will be full of confidence after dismantling the Rockets on Tuesday. These teams last met on Nov 10 and it was the Clippers who won by 128-126 in overtime, but while I think the Bucks get their revenge here, I think the value remains with the red-hot Clippers and the points.
