The Dallas Mavericks pay a visit to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center on Friday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in rough shape lately as they’ve lost four of their last six games, but they will be feeling better after snapping a three-game skid with a 104-94 home win over the Suns on Wednesday. Luka Doncic led the team with 30 points, six rebounds and five assists, Harrison Barnes added 17 points while Wesley Matthews chipped in with 14 points and five assists. As a team, the Mavericks shot 42 percent from the field and 12 of 34 from the 3-point line as they started slowly against the Suns before taking control of the game with a 16-2 run midway through the third quarter. with the win, Dallas improved to 19-22 overall and 16-4 at home.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been in decent shape with six wins in their last nine games and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after escaping Oklahoma City with a 119-117 road win on Tuesday. Andrew Wiggins had his best game of the season as he finished with 40 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, Karl-Anthony Towns added 20 points while battling foul trouble while Dario Saric chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 42 percent from the field and 11 of 31 from the 3-point line as they left with the unlikely win after squandering an eight-point fourth quarter lead as Wiggins came up clutch with a pair of free throws followed by a key assist in the final minute. With the win, Minnesota improved to 20-21 overall and 6-15 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a win and 5-16-1 ATS in their last 22 Friday games. The Timberwolves are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 4-11 ATS in their last 15 Friday games.
Head to head, the home team is 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings, the under is 8-1 in the last nine meetings and the Mavericks are 15-7 ATS in the last 22 meetings in Minnesota.
The Mavericks haven’t been at their best lately, but they certainly looked good in their easy win over the Suns as Doncic led the way with 30 points. The Timberwolves look to be turning the corner with their play recently and they really came together as a team on Tuesday to win their first game under their interim head coach Ryan Saunders. These two teams have already met once this season with the Mavericks winning by 140-136 back on Oct 20 but I think the Timberwolves get the revenge at home where they are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games.
