The Detroit Pistons pay a visit to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center on Wednesday night.
The Detroit Pistons have been in a real slump as they’ve lost eight of their last nine games and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling to the Bucks in a 107-104 home loss on Monday. Reggie Bullock led the team with 24 points on nine of 14 shooting, Blake Griffin racked up a triple-double of 19 points with 10 rebounds and 11 assists while Andre Drummond chipped in with 10 points and 14 rebounds. As a team, the Pistons shot 44 percent from the field and 14 of 35 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from a 14-point third quarter deficit only to fall just short as Griffin missed on consecutive 3-point attempts. With the tough loss, Detroit fell to 14-14 on the season and 10-7 at home.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been in a bit of a slump themselves as they’ve lost five of their last eight games but they were able to arrest a four-game skid with a 132-105 rout over the Kings on Monday. Andrew Wiggins led the team in scoring with 17 points, Karl-Anthony Towns added 14 points with 14 rebounds while Derrick Rose chipped in with 13 points and 11 assists. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 49 percent from the field and they had a total of eight players finish in double figures as they cruised to victory after outscoring the Kings by 74-44 in a dominant first half. With the win, Minnesota improved to 14-16 overall and 12-4 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 13-5 ATS in their last 18 road games, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Timberwolves are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games, 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11 home games against a team with a road record below .400 and 5-1 ATS in their last six against the Eastern Conference.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings, the favorite is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings and the Pistons are 6-0 ATS in the last six meetings.
The Pistons have been in bad shape lately but they looked like they were turning things around after their win over the Celtics before they fell just short against the Bucks on Monday. The Timberwolves haven’t been at their best lately but they looked like a completely different team in their dominant win over the Kings. The Timberwolves have been in a nice groove at home where they are 5-1 ATS in their last six games but I’m going with the Pistons and the free points as they’re a perfect 6-0 ATS in the last six meetings.
