The Minnesota Timberwolves play host to the Memphis Grizzlies at the Target Center on Monday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been in a major slump as they've lost 23 of their last 24 games and they will be hoping to snap a four-game skid after falling to the Lakers in a 100-93 home loss on Saturday. Andrew Harrison led the team with 20 points and nine assists, Marc Gasol added 18 points while JaMychal Green chipped in with 17 points and 16 rebounds. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 41 percent from the field and a miserable five of 29 from the three-point line as they dominated the first quarter to jump out to an early double-digit lead, but they managed just 36 points in the second half as the stole the game behind Kyle Kuzma who scored 15 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter. With the loss, Memphis fell to 19-54 overall and 14-24 at home.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been in solid form as they've won four of their last seven games but they will be looking to bounce back after falling to the 76ers in a 120-108 road loss on Saturday. Andrew Wiggins led the way with 16 points and four assists, Karl-Anthony Towns added 15 points with 11 rebounds but shot just three of 15 from the field, while Jamal Crawford chipped in with 13 points off the bench. As a team, the Timberwolves shot just 38 percent from the field and six of 23 from the three-point line as they fell to the 76ers who led by as many as 29 points in the fourth quarter. With the loss, Minnesota dropped to 42-32 overall and 15-23 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 5-16 ATS in their last 21 games following a loss and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games overall. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves are 13-5 ATS in their last 18 home games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings, the Grizzlies are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings and 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Minnesota.
The Timberwolves haven't been at their best and they will be filthy with themselves after getting blown out by the 76ers in their last outing, so I expect them to take advantage of the slumping Grizzlies who haven't been able to buy a win lately. The Timberwolves have covered in 13 of their last 18 home games and I think that trend continues as they win this one by double digits.
