The Utah Jazz pay a visit to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center on Sunday night.
The Utah Jazz have been in great form as they’ve won 12 of their last 15 games and they will be looking to stay hot after taking down the lowly Grizzlies in a 107-97 home win on Friday. Donovan Mitchell led the team with 22 points and four assists, Dante Exum provided the spark off the bench with 21 points on eight of 10 shooting while Joe Ingles chipped in with 17 points and 10 assists. As a team, the Jazz shot 54 percent from the field and 12 of 31 from the three-point line as they jumped out to an early 14-point lead before relying on their defense to close out the game after the Grizzlies ralled back in the second quarter. With the win, Utah improved to 43-33 overall which is currently good for seventh place in the congested Western Conference standings.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been building a little momentum of their own as they’ve won six of their past 10 games and they will be aiming for a third straight win after escaping Dallas with a 93-92 road win on Friday. Jamal Crawford led the team with 24 points on 11 of 18 shooting, Karl-Anthony Towns added 21 points with 20 rebounds while Jeff Teague chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 42 percent from the field and eight of 25 from the three-point line as they escaped with the narrow win after leading by as many as 12 points with just 4:54 left on the clock. With the win, Minnesota improved to 44-33 overall which is good for fifth place in the Western Conference standings.
Looking at the betting trends, the Jazz are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 road games against a team with a winning home record, 10-4 ATS in their last 14 road games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games overall. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves are 13-6-1 ATS in their last 20 home games, 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record and 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 3-1-1 in the last five meetings in Minnesota, the road team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings and the Jazz are 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings in Minnesota.
The Timberwolves are leading the season series by 2-1 but the Jazz did win the most recent meeting, a 116-108 home win back on Mar 2. The Timberwolves have been a solid home team to bet on as they’re 13-6-1 ATS in their last 20 home games, but the Jazz have been red-hot lately as they’re 10-1 ATS in their last 11 road games. Both teams could really do with a win to gain some ground in the congested Western Conference but I’m leaning towards the Jazz to come away with the win in this one.
