The New Orleans Pelicans play host to the Atlanta Hawks at the Smoothie King Center on Tuesday night.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their last seven games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after sneaking past the 76ers in a 129-127 home win on Saturday. Trae Young led the team with 32 points and 11 assists, Taurean Prince added 23 points while Dwayne Dedmon chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Hawks shot 46 percent from the field and 15 of 47 from the 3-point line as they hung with the 76ers in a close contest, but with the scores tied with just 3.5 seconds left, Young drove to the basket and sunk the game-winning floater to steal the game at the buzzer. With the win, Atlanta improved to 26-48 overall and 15-22 at home.
Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans have been in a serious slump as they’ve lost eight of their last nine games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting blown out by the Rockets in a 113-90 home loss on Sunday. Justin Jackson led the team with 19 points and six assists, Julius Randle added 15 points while Anthony Davis chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Pelicans shot just 41 percent from the field and seven of 28 from the 3-point line but they were never really in this game after they fell behind by 63-44 going into halftime. With the loss, New Orleans fell to 31-44 overall and 18-18 at home which is good for 12th place in the Western Conference standings.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a win, 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games and 12-4 ATS in their last 16 games overall. The Pelicans are 2-7 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a losing record, 0-6 ATS in their last six home games and 1-8 ATS in their last nine games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings, the Hawks are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall and the Hawks are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings in New Orleans.
The Hawks have sprung to life with four wins in their last seven games and they will be fired up following their thrilling win over the highly touted 76ers, while the Pelicans have lost eight of their last nine games and look like they’re ready for the season to end. The Hawks beat the Pelicans by 128-116 in the lone meeting this season back on Mar 10 and they are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall, so I’m staying with the hot hand and taking the Hawks to get the win here.
