The New Orleans Pelicans head to Brooklyn on Monday after a loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder by the score of 115-104. J.J. Redick led the Pelicans in points, scoring 17 while going 6 of 12 from the fiend and 1 of 2 from the free throw line. Shooting guard Josh Hart led the Pelicans in rebounds, recording 15 on the night including 3 while on offense.  New Orleans was led in assists by Lonzo Ball who had 7 while also adding 3 steals and 10 points to his line.

The Pelicans come into Monday’s game with a record of 1-5, however, they have played decently well including a win at home against the Denver Nuggets. The acquisitions from the Lakers in the off season continue to play well as Brandon Ingram is leading the team in scoring and is averaging 23.5 points per game.  Meanwhile, Lonzo Ball is averaging 7.3 assists per game which is a team high.  Josh Hard has been the Pelicans best player on the boards so far this season and is currently leading the team in rebounds per game with 7.7.  New Orleans is still without Zion Williamson and also has Derrick Favors listed as out and Brandon Ingram on their injury report who is listed day to day.

The Brooklyn Nets welcome the New Orleans Pelicans into town after losing their last game 113-109 to the Detroit Pistons. Kyrie Irving was the Nets most productive scorer as he scored 20 points while shooting 8 of 21 from the field, as well as recording 11 rebounds and 10 assists which were also both team highs.  Taurean Prince also had a decent night as he also scored 20 points while adding a rebound and an assist of his own.  Spencer Dinwiddie also had a good game for the Nets while coming off of the bench, scoring 16 points while adding 6 assists and 3 rebounds to his credit.

The Brooklyn Nets are now 2-4 and can be seen as a team that is currently underachieving.  The Nets will be looking forward to getting back closer to the .500 mark in their game against the Pelicans. On the year Kyrie Irving leads the Nets in points per game with 30.5 and assist per game with 7.5. Center DeAndre Jordan leads the team in rebounds per game with 10.  The Nets enter Monday’s game on a healthy note, but still have Kevin Durant listed on their injury report as out.

New Orleans comes into this game scoring 118.3 points per game and allowing 122.5 points per game so it can be seen that New Orleans struggles a bit defensively.  The Nets have scored 118.7 points per game this season while allowing 119.5 points per game.  In a game where both teams are scoring the same amount of points per game, it all comes down to defense and in this case, Brooklyn has the edge.  Nets win this one 125-120 and covers the spread.
