The Memphis Grizzlies go to New Orleans, Louisiana, to take on the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday at the Smoothie King Center. The Grizzlies are coming off of a four-game winning streak, defeating the Phoenix Suns, the Detroit Pistons, the Denver Nuggets and the New York Knicks in their last game. The win over the Knicks caused some controversy as Grizzlies Forward Jae Crowder stole the ball and shot a three-pointer as the game was ending, which caused a scuffle, and later Marcus Morris having disparaging comments towards Crowder.
The Memphis Grizzlies are 24-24 on the season and are currently the eighth seed in the Western Conference. The Grizzlies have had a great offense this season, ranking ninth in the points per game and share the ball so well, as they rank first in assists per game, in large part due to Ja Morant's elite passing ability.
The New Orleans Pelicans are coming off of a two-game winning streak, defeating the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers in their last game. The Pelicans are 6-4 in their previous ten games and defeated the Memphis Grizzlies five games ago.
The Pelicans are 19-29 on the season, with a home record of 9-15. The Pelicans are 2-2 with the return of Zion Williamson, but the team seems rejuvenated with Zion back as Williamson has looked incredibly impressive as well.
Memphis is 26-21-1 ATS this season
Over is 24-24 for the Grizzlies this season
New Orleans is 24-22-2 ATS this season
Over is 27-21 doe the Pelicans this season
This is going to be the first-ever NBA matchup of the number one overall picks Zion Williamson versus the number 2 overall pick Ja Morant. The Grizzlies have been absolutely phenomenal in their last four games, as the Grizzlies have certainly found chemistry, and are beginning to cement themselves as a playoff team. Not only was the blowout win over the New York Knicks was impressive for the Grizzlies, but the win prior defeating a very good Denver Nuggets side shows that the Memphis Grizzlies have the ability to beat some of the NBA's Elite. However, the New Orleans Pelicans have shown that they are a very good team as well, defeating the Boston Celtics in the game prior to their win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. I do see Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies as the better team, and I think they continue their winning streak here. Final Score Prediction, Memphis Grizzlies win 116-110.
