The Memphis Grizzlies pay a visit to the New Orleans Pelicans at the Smoothie King Center on Monday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been in rough shape as they’ve lost 10 of their last 12 games and they will be hoping to stop a five-game skid after falling to the Spurs in a 108-88 road loss on Saturday. Mike Conley led the team with 21 points on seven of 12 shooting while Jaren Jackson Jr. and Dillon Brooks each scored 15 points, but no other player scored more than eight points. As a team, the Grizzlies shot just 37 percent from the field and 11 of 28 from the 3-point line but they committed a total of 21 turnovers and never looked threatening after taking a 20-point deficit going into halftime. With the loss, Memphis dropped to 18-21 overall and 8-12 on the road.
Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans have been in a real slump as they’ve lost seven of their past 10 games, but they will be looking to build some momentum after blowing past the Cavaliers in a much-needed 133-98 road win on Saturday. Julius Randle racked up 22 points with 12 rebounds and eight assists, Jrue Holiday added 22 points with three assists while Anthony Davis chipped in with 20 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. As a team, the Pelicans shot a sizzling 58 percent from the field and 14 of 27 from the 3-point line as they took a 61-52 lead going into halftime before putting the game out of reach with a 37-20 third quarter effort. With the dominant win, New Orleans improved to 18-22 overall and 5-16 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games, 0-5 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 5-17 ATS in their last 22 games overall. The Pelicans are 3-11 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a losing record, 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games following a win of more than 10 points and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall, the Grizzlies are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings in New Orleans.
The Grizzlies haven’t looked anything like the team we’ve known over the past few seasons and they are coming into this one fresh off a 20-point loss to the Spurs. The Pelicans haven’t been much better as they too have been in a slump, so you couldn’t back either team with much confidence in their current form. The Grizzlies are 5-17 ATS in their last 22 games overall while the Pelicans are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games following a win of more than 10 points, so I’m banking on the Pelicans to stay hot after their massive win on Saturday.
