Smoothie King Center
The Line: New Orleans -4.5 -- Over/Under 225.5
The New Orleans Pelicans play host to the Orlando Magic at the Smoothie King Center on Tuesday night.
The Orlando Magic have been on a nice run lately as they’ve won five of their six games and they will be gunning for a fourth straight victory after blowing past the lowly Hawks in a 124-108 road win on Sunday. Nikola Vucevic led the team with 19 points and 12 rebounds, Terrence Ross added 18 points off the bench while Jonathan Isaac and Evan Fournier each scored 17 points. As a team, the Magic shot 47 percent from the field and 13 of 37 from the 3-point line as they outscored the Hawks by 37-23 in the second quarter to take a 13-point lead going into halftime before pulling away in the third quarter. With the win, Orlando improved to 25-32 overall and 10-17 on the road.
Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans have been in a slump as they’ve lost seven of their last 10 games and they will be looking to bounce back after having their two-game win streak snapped by the Grizzlies in a 99-90 road loss on Saturday. Julius Randle led the team with 21 points, Jrue Holiday added 15 points while seven rebounds and five assists while Anthony Davis chipped in with 14 points, 16 rebounds and six assists. As a team, the Pelicans shot just 39 percent from the field and six of 33 from the 3-point line as they took the lead in a low-scoring first half before the Grizzlies took over in the third quarter where they outscored the Pelicans by 31-18. With the loss, New Orleans fell to 25-32 overall and 9-22 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Magic are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a win and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall. The Pelicans are 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a loss, 7-15 ATS in their last 22 games against a team with a losing record and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the under is 12-3 in the last 15 meetings in New Orleans, the underdog is 20-7-1 ATS in the last 28 meetings and the Magic are 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings in New Orleans.
The Magic have quietly been playing some of their best basketball of the season and they will be looking to stay hot after routing the Hawks on Sunday. The Pelicans actually have an identical record to the Magic but it has to be distracting to be playing under the cloud of Davis’ uncertain future. The Magic are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games and I think they can pull off the minor upset in this one.
