The Brooklyn Nets and the New York Kniccks meet in an Empire State showdown in NBA preseason action from MSG on Friday night.
The Brooklyn Nets will look to bounce back after being on the losing end of a 118-91 beatdown at the hands of the Raptors in their last outing. Jarrett Allen led the Nets with 24 points on 8 of 12 shooting while D’Angelo Russell added 18 points and 6 rebounds. Caris LeVert chipped in 13 points with 3 steals and Joe Harris added 10 points while Spencer Dinwiddie led the Nets with 7 rebounds and 8 assists in the losing effort. As a team, Brooklyn is averaging 106 points per game on 42.6% shooting from the field, 25% from behind the 3-point line and 68.9% from the foul line this preseason.
The New York Knicks will look to bounce back from their first loss of the preseason in a 110-98 loss to the Wizards in their last outing. Tim Hardaway Jr. and Allonzo Trier each had 18 points on 7 field goal makes with Trier tying for the team lead with 4 assists with Emmanuel Mudiay while Frank Ntilikina, Trey Burke and Mario Hezonja each had to points to round out the scoring in double figures for the Knicks in the losing effort. Noah Vonleh led the Knicks with 7 rebounds to go along with a pair of blocks in the defeat. As a team, New York is averaging 108.8 points per game on 41.9% shooting from the field, 33% from behind the three point line and 76.7% from the foul line through the preseason.
Trends will be updated if/when they’re released.
Between these two New York squads, I feel like the Knicks are more capable of a bounce back performance as they’ve been the more impressive of the two offensively so far in the preseason, and I didn't really like how the Nets caved in the 3rd quarter against the Raptors, so while Brooklyn may rebound here, the line is too low for me to go anywhere but with the Knicks.
