The Dallas Mavericks and the New York Knicks duke it out at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been stuck in a rut lately as they’ve lost five of their last seven games and they will be looking to bounce back after falling just short against the Raptors in a 123-120 home loss on Sunday. Luka Doncic led the team with a triple-double of 35 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists, Harrison Barnes added 14 points while Dennis Smith Jr. chipped in with 13 points and six assists. As a team, the Mavericks shot 48 percent from the field and 11 of 36 from the 3-point line as they erased a 12-point deficit at halftime, only to get run down in the fourth quarter where they led by as many as seven points. With the loss, Dallas fell to 22-27 overall and 18-7 at home.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in a serious slump as they’ve lost 18 of their last 19 games and they will be hoping to put a halt to their current 10-game losing streak after falling to the Hornets in a 101-92 road loss on Monday. Kevin Knox led the team with 19 points, Tim Hardaway Jr. added 17 points with 10 rebounds and four assists while Mitchell Robinson chipped in with 10 points. As a team, the Knicks shot just 40 percent from the field and seven of 23 from the 3-point line as they fought hard to keep pace with the Hornets until the fourth quarter where the Hornets went on a decisive 17-1 run to steal the game late. With the loss, New York fell to 10-39 overall and 6-22 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record, 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games and 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games overall. The Knicks are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 home games, 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 7-15 ATS in their last 22 games following a loss.
Head to head, the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings, the road team is 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings and the Mavericks are 11-5 ATS in the last 16 meetings in New York.
The Mavericks haven't been at their best lately as they've lost five of their last seven, but that's nothing compared to the Knicks who have lost 18 of their last 19. The Mavericks are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games while the Knicks are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 home games. Finally, the Mavericks are 11-5 ATS in the last 16 meetings in New York and I think that trend continues here as I have to favor the Mavericks' starting five in this matchup.
