The New York Knicks play host to the Indiana Pacers at Madison Square Garden on Friday night.
The Indiana Pacers were on a bit of a slide going into the All-Star break as they had lost seven of their last nine games, but they will be aiming to build some momentum after snapping a six-game skid with a 118-111 home win over the shorthanded Bucks on Feb 12. TJ Warren led the team with 35 points on 16 of 19 shooting from the field, Malcolm Brogdon added 17 points with 13 assists while Victor Oladipo chipped in with 13 points and four assists. As a team, the Pacers shot 52 percent from the field and nine of 27 from the 3-point line as they dominated the early proceedings with 68 points in the first half to lead by as many as 25 points, before having to rally in the fourth quarter after the Bucks cut the lead to just four points.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks were in decent form heading into the All-Star break as they had split their last eight games, but they will be looking to bounce back after getting routed by the Wizards in a 114-96 home loss on Feb 12. Julius Randle led the team with 21 points and 13 rebounds on nine of 18 shooting, Elfrid Payton added 19 points with eight rebounds and five assists while RJ Barrett chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Knicks shot just 40 percent from the field and a miserly three of 23 from the 3-point line as they played well in the early going to lead by four points at halftime, before falling to pieces in the second half where they allowed the Wizards to pour in 68 points in a blowout.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pacers are 7-2 ATS in their last nine road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Knicks are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall, the Pacers are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Pacers are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in New York.
The Knicks found a bit of form heading into the break, but they have so little to play for at this stage of the season and their confidence will be low following their blowout loss to the lowly Wizards in their last outing. The Pacers haven’t been anywhere near their best lately, but they’re just about back to full health and they will be looking to start their run to the playoffs. The Pacers are just 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in New York, but with the line so short, I’m looking at the Pacers to easily get the win and cover in this one.
