The Memphis Grizzlies and the New York Knicks duke it out at Madison Square Garden on Sunday afternoon.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been in a real slump lately as they’ve lost 17 of their last 19 games and they will be hoping to stop a three-game skid after falling to the Hornets in a 100-92 road loss on Friday. Shelvin Mack led the team with 19 points and nine assists, Justin Holiday and Ivan Rabb each scored 15 points while Joakim Noah chipped in with a double-double of 10 points with 11 rebounds off the bench. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 43 percent from the field and nine of 29 from the 3-point line as they hung with the Hornets to lead by six points midway through the fourth quarter until the Hornets closed the game on a 17-3 run to steal the game. With the loss, Memphis fell to 20-33 overall and 8-19 on the road.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in a world of hurt as they’ve lost 20 of their last 21 games and they will be looking to stop a 12-game losing streak after falling to the Celtics in a 113-99 home loss on Friday. Damyean Dotson led the team with 22 points and six rebounds, Kevin Knox added 21 points while Mario Hezonja chipped in with 10 points. As a team, the Knicks shot 45 percent from the field and nine of 31 from the 3-point line but they were always trailing the Celtics and fell behind by as many as 21 points midway through the fourth quarter. With the loss, New York fell to 10-41 overall and 4-19 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 3-11 ATS in their last 14 road games, 1-8 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a losing record and 6-20 ATS in their last 26 games overall. The Knicks are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games following a loss of more than 10 points, 2-11 ATS in their last 13 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings and the favorite is 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings.
Two of the worst teams in the league collide as the Grizzlies battle the Knicks on Sunday. The Grizzlies are dealing with looming trades, they're 3-11 ATS in their last 14 road games and 6-20 ATS in their last 26 games overall. THe Knicks are 2-11 ATS in their last 13 home games and they're still waiting on reinforcements to arrive from the Porzingis trade. It's hard to confidently bet either team these days, but I think I'm leaning towards the Grizzlies who looked pretty good in their narrow loss to the Hornets in their last outing.
