The Miami Heat pay a visit to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.
The Miami Heat have been in great form lately as they’ve won five of their last seven games and they will be looking to keep that momentum going after sneaking past the Mavericks in a 105-99 home win on Thursday. Goran Dragic led the team with a triple-double of 23 points with 12 rebounds and 11 assists, Dion Waiters added 17 points while Bam Adebayo chipped in with 11 points, 16 rebounds and three assists in a starting role. As a team, the Heat shot 43 percent from the field and seven of 30 from the 3-point line as they fell behind by 10 points at halftime, before rallying in the fourth quarter where they outscored the Mavericks by 30-17 to escape with the win after trailing for most of the game. With the hard-fought win, Miami improved to 37-38 overall and 18-21 at home which is currently good for eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in a world of hurt as they’ve lost 13 of their last 14 games and they will be hoping to avoid a sixth straight defeat after getting blown out by the shorthanded Raptors in a 117-92 home loss on Thursday. Mitchell Robinson led the team with 19 points and 21 rebounds off the bench, Kadeem Allen added 18 points while Emmanuel Mudiay chipped in with 11 points but no other players finished in double figures. As a team, the Knicks shot just 36 percent from the field and six of 26 from the 3-point line, but you just knew this game was a foregone conclusion after the Knicks fell behind by 55-36 going into halftime. With the loss, New York fell to 14-61 overall and 7-30 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record, 21-8 ATS in their last 29 road games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight Saturday games. The Knicks are 5-16 ATS in their last 21 games against a team with a losing record, 18-40 ATS in their last 58 home games and 16-35 ATS in their last 51 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 9-3-1 in the last 13 meetings, the Heat are 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings in New York and the Heat are 13-6 ATS in the last 19 meetings overall.
The Heat are clinging onto the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference standings, but only just, as the Magic and the Hornets are breathing down their necks. Meanwhile, the Knicks have almost nothing to play for at this stage of the season as they need a high draft pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. The Heat looked great with Dragic back in the starting lineup, they have much more on the line compared to the Knicks and this will be Wade’s last game at Madison Square Garden. I’m going with the Heat to take care of business and get the win and cover against the league-worst Knicks.
