The New York Knicks host the New Orleans Pelicans in Friday NBA preseason action.
The New York Knicks upped their preseason record to 2-0 with a 107-102 victory against Brooklyn on Wednesday. Defense was the name of the game for New York as the team won the shooting battle 46.9%-38.9% and forced 14 turnovers to overcome the Nets 15 extra looks at the basket.
Allonzo Trier led all scorers with 25 points on 8-12 from the field and 8-8 effort at the line but he did commit five of the Knicks eleven turnovers. Enes Kanter owned the paint for New York with 22 points and a contest high 20 rebounds while hitting on 7-14 from the floor and 8-9 at the stripe. The Knicks saw four others contribute 8-9 points while 14-15 players scored.
The New Orleans Pelicans are still searching for their first win of the preseason after a 116-102 defeat at Atlanta dropped the team to 0-2. This game was up for grabs until New Orleans was outscored 37-14 in the third quarter. The Pelicans struggled to make shots at 36.5% which included an 8-39 mark on threes.
Anthony Davis paced the Pelicans offense with 16 points and seven rebounds on 5-12 shooting with Jrue Holiday next in line with 13 points on 5-9 from the field including 3-4 from long range. The duo of Troy Williams and Julius Randle added eleven points apiece with Randle grabbing seven boards to give New Orleans solid production but more was needed from the bench.
