The Orlando Magic travel to Madison Square Garden to battle the New York Knicks on Tuesday night.
The Orlando Magic have been playing some of their best basketball of the season as they’ve won eight of their last 10 games and they will be looking to stay hot after taking down the Raptors in a 113-98 road win on Sunday. Terrence Ross led the team with 28 points on nine of 21 shooting off the bench, Nikola Vucevic racked up 23 points with 12 rebounds and four assists while Jonathan Isaac chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Magic shot 46 percent from the field as they set the tone early by holding the Raptors to just 15 points in the first quarter, before they ran away with the game in the second half where they outscored the shorthanded Raptors by 60-48. With the impressive win, Orlando improved to 28-33 on the season which is currently good for ninth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks were in a world of hurt when they were on that ugly 18-game skid, but they’ve since won two of their last three games and will be feeling pretty good after taking down the Spurs in a 130-118 home win on Sunday to end an 18-game home losing streak. Damyean Dotson drained eight 3-pointers to lead the team with 27 points, Kevin Knox and Emmanuel Mudiay each scored 19 points while Mitchell Robinson chipped in with 15 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks. As a team, the Knicks shot 51 percent from the field and 16 of 37 from the 3-point line as they came out hard against the Spurs, taking a nine-point halftime lead before pulling away late in the fourth quarter. With the impressive upset. New York improved to 12-48 overall and 5-24 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Magic are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a win and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Knicks are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a win, 2-12 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a losing record and 4-15 ATS in their last 19 home games.
Head to head, the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings in New York, the Magic are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall and 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in New York.
The Knicks are suddenly pretty interesting to watch as they’ve sprung to life with a couple of nice wins, but I’ve been on the Magic for a while now and it’s been paying off as they’re just quietly going through their best run of the season, just in time to steal that eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. It’s nice to see the Knicks playing well for a change, but the Magic have already beaten the Knicks twice this season by double digits and they are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in New York. With that being said, I’m going with the Magic to stay hot with another win and cover in a game that means more to them at this stage of the season.
